Anita Gola: NDM Overall Prize winner (2019) for her innovative work in the field of liver-stage malaria vaccines and liver immunity. Anita designed and developed a novel vaccine strategy, "Prime and Target" which generates high numbers of tissue-resident memory T-cells able to clear malaria parasites. This exciting new vaccine platform is now being tested in human clinical trials. Using multi-parameter quantitative imaging approaches, Anita has also performed extensive work in the context on liver immunity, were she discovered a novel interplay between the gut-microbiota, liver endothelial cells and resident immune cells.
