Cheltenham Science Festival

Cheltenham science festival

The Nuffield Department of Medicine is a regular partner of the Cheltenham Science Festival, which aims to 'inspire, challenge, surprise and entertain' its visitors.

We have sponsored the festival for several years, and each year, a team of our scientists presents hands-on science to the thousands of people who come to festival. We've had visitors do a dance-off that explains antibiotic resistance, got children to make their own viruses, and our scientists have given talks on their work on Ebola to a packed audience.

We send out a call for public engagement proposals to our researchers early on each year: do get in touch with us if you have an idea for an activity to bring to the Cheltenham Science Festival.
