Sumi Biswas: A malaria vaccine - our progress on the development of a life-saving vaccine

For World Malaria Day 2016, Philippe Guérin (WWARN), joined Sumi Biswas from the Jenner Institute, Dominic Kwiatkowski from MalariaGen, Katherine Battle from the Malaria Atlas Project (MAP) and Nick White from the Wellcome Trust Mahidol Oxford Research Unit (MORU). The speakers discussed their innovative research and multi-disciplinary collaborations across Africa, Asia, the Americas and Europe to support the global goal of eradicating malaria.

Such vaccines will prevent malaria transmission on a wider scale, focusing on the community rather than the individual. Dr Sumi Biswas is working on the development of transmission-blocking vaccines to prevent the spread of malaria.
