CAMS-Oxford University International Centre for Translational Immunology (CTI)

CTI

The CAMS-Oxford International Centre for Translational Immunology is a joint venture between the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences (CAMS), China Centre for Disease Control (China CDC), Beijing's You'an Hospital (You'an), the University of Oxford's Human Immunology Unit (HIU), and the Nuffield Department of Medicine (NDM).

 

Founded in April 2013, three main themes will underpin our human immunology research programmes:

i) analysis of the interplay between adaptive and innate immune responses to optimize vaccination strategies;

ii) the role of the local micro-environment in modulating innate and adaptive immune responses;

iii) understanding the mechanisms which control resolution of inflammatory processes during infectious diseases and cancer.

Collaborative Centre - Oxford University - Chinese University of Hong Kong - Centre for Disaster and Medical Humanitarian Response (CCOUC)

CCOUC

In April 2011 Oxford University launched this new collaborative centre based at the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK).

Whilst Asia is ranked as the most disaster prone region of the world in both natural and man-made disasters, research and training in the Asia-Pacific region is limited. Better understanding of the profile of disaster epidemiology and the human health impact will enhance response, preparedness and mitigate the adverse human impact resulted of disaster. The objective of CCOUC is to focus on academic, research and training on disaster preparedness, relief and response in the Greater China region. Based on the technical expertise and network of Oxford Asia, University of Oxford, CCOUC will support research, training, and academic exchange in the area of disaster and humanitarian medicine. In addition, through various activities it will facilitate enhanced disaster relief response and assist in mitigating of adverse impact of disasters in modern world.

Oxford-Li Ka Shing Global Health Programme

The Li Ka Shing University of Oxford Global Health Programme was created in 2007 following a generous donation by the Li Ka Shing Foundation. In 2010 the Programme was awarded another generous donation from Sir Ka Shing Li to continue the strong collaboration between the University of Oxford and Shantou University. The Global Health Programme funds a series of partnerships, teaching and research projects helping to develop the best responses to the global health challenge of emerging infectious disease and rising drug resistance. In addition the Shantou Oxford Clinical Research Unit (SOCRU) at Shantou University Medical College was established in May 2010; the aim of this collaboration is to bring together skills expertise and ideas through research projects in the field of global health as well as providing expert training to future scientists through collaborative training courses.

Oxford University Beijing Science and Technology Company Ltd. (OUBST)

OUBST is a wholly-owned subsidiary company of Oxford University established in 2008 to facilitate the Acarbose Cardiovascular Evaluation (ACE) trial run by Professor Rury Holman of the Diabetes Trials Unit with collaborators at the People's Hospital, Peking University and the Chinese PLA General Hospital, Beijing.

With a newly-expanded remit and new offices in Beijing's centrally-located Kerry Centre OUBST is now well-placed to provide office space and services to academics across NDM.
