Cellular Imaging Core Facility Manager

Grade 8: £41,526 - £49,553 with a discretionary range to £54,131 p.a.

Applications are invited for a Cellular Imaging Facility Manager to work with the Cellular Imaging group at Wellcome Centre for Human Genetics (WHG).

Your primary role will be to manage all aspects of the day-to-day running of the Centre’s Cellular Imaging equipment and services. In particular, you will provide expert help and assistance to WHG researchers and external users with their experiments, give appropriate training in the different modalities of advanced imaging provided in the Core, maintain the booking website and manage capacity effectively, write user guides and other documentation to help instrument users, and co-ordinate maintenance and instrument development work with suppliers.

You will hold, or be close to completion of, a PhD/DPhil in, biophysics, or any other suitable discipline relevant to the work of the role and the research of the WHG with a clear enthusiasm for working in a core facility to support and enable the research work of the WHG’s wide-ranging research groups. You should have an experience of effectively training others in the use of cellular imaging equipment; experience of managing equipment and the related documentation and knowledge and experience of the recent technical advances in FLIM, FCCS and super resolution light microscopy. The ideal candidate will also have excellent ability to communicate, train, build strong relationships, and work effectively, with researchers from varied scientific backgrounds and with differing specialist knowledge.

The post is funded by Wellcome and is available until 30 November 2021 in the first instance.
