Bioinformatics Analyst

Applications are invited for a Bioinformatics Analyst to join the Bioinformatics Core at the Wellcome Centre for Human Genetics.


You will be involved in a wide variety of projects undertaken by the Bioinformatics Core, supporting researchers with practical bioinformatics expertise and data analysis. This will range from helping with day-to-day enquiries and problems to in-depth bespoke collaborations with research groups. In addition, the post will involve developing and maintaining bioinformatics pipelines for existing and new types of data, as well as a strong element of training research scientists to develop their own bioinformatics and programming skills. It should suit a talented bioinformatician keen to hone their skills across a range of data types, including those at the cutting edge of genomics research, and share their expertise with others.


You will have a degree in a relevant subject and a postgraduate degree in bioinformatics, computing, biostatistics or a related subject with demonstrable experience, ability and practical success in bioinformatics and/or biostatistics, to include familiarity with next generation sequencing data. You will be proficient in command-line environment and the use of statistical programming languages, including at least one of Python or R. You will also have demonstrable ability to organise and prioritise work efficiently whilst delivering results to the required standard and to an agreed schedule.


The position is fixed-term until 30 November 2021 in the first instance and funded by the Wellcome.
