Do you find yourself overloaded because you have trouble saying ‘no’? Is there some new work you’d like to take on but are not sure how to bring it up with your PI? Or is there a difficult conversation you need to have with someone in your team?
The next OxRSS (Research Staff Society) professional networking events will be a chance to learn and practise assertiveness techniques in a safe environment with other research colleagues. Hannah Boschen from the Oxford Learning Institute will run a workshop just for OxRSS to help you navigate some of these issues. The event will be run twice – once in the evening (including a drinks reception) and once at lunchtime – so you can choose when is best for you.
Medical Sciences Teaching Centre, South Parks Road, Thursday 29 May, 5:45pm start – workshop 6pm-7pm, drinks reception 7pm-8pm (charge £4, payable on the door). Wine, soft drinks and nibbles will be available on arrival as well as after the workshop, and there will be plenty of time to chat informally with other researchers as well as develop some valuable skills.
Room D37, Department of Zoology, Thursday 12 June, 12:15pm start – workshop 12.30-1.30pm (charge £1.50, payable on the door). Tea, coffee, and juice will be available (please feel free to bring your own lunch).
To book, please email firstname.lastname@example.org by Friday 16 May, saying whether you would like to attend the evening or lunchtime workshop.
