Manuel Rivas, from Nicaragua, joined Oxford in 2010, after completing an undergraduate degree in Mathematics at MIT.
Manuel completed a DPhil titled Medical Relevance and Functional Consequences of Protein Truncating Variants in 2014, under the supervision of Prof. Peter Donnelly and Prof. Mark McCarthy. Read about his research published in the journal Science.
Every year, about 65 DPhil students start a life changing experience in the Nuffield Department of Medicine in Oxford.
Prize Studentships are advertised from October in Nature, and usually have a closing deadline of early January each year, with interviews taking place towards the end of January.
