Genome research and human health: current applications and translational potential in inflammation and infectious diseases

Mexico June 24-28, 2015

Genomics is revolutionising biomedical research and is rapidly finding applications in clinical and public health settings. Researcher Links Workshops promote international collaborations and bring together researchers from the UK and partner countries. The Mexico-UK Genomics Workshop will take place in Mexico on June 24-28, 2015 in Oaxtepec, Morelos.

Purpose and target audience

The workshop will provide a space for discussing and establishing potential collaborations between UK and Mexican researchers. We are inviting scientists, clinicians and public health practitioners to encourage cross-disciplinary work in key challenges in scientific research and capacity building. The workshop will also discuss strategies for long-term sustainability. We particularly welcome early to mid-career researchers and practitioners (R2 and R3 EC definitions for UK based participants1 and SNI I and II for Mexican based participants2 [or clinical/public health equivalents, e.g. registered specialists with established research interests]) and those with inter-country collaborations at early stages.

Funds for travel and lodging will be provided (see details below)

Please note that places are limited to optimise interactions and will be allocated on a competitive basis. There is no registration fee. We expect 12 participants from each country and will invite all participants to present and discuss their work. The workshop will be carried out in English.
