Dr Louis-Marie Yindom will spend a month in Mexico during August 2015 travelling across the country sharing his expertise with scientists and students on how to set up and manage a HLA typing facility. During his visit, Dr Yindom will train several students and relevant departmental staff on HLA typing using state-of-the-art molecular techniques that he developed at the University of Oxford. Training on HLA typing will be divided as follows:
Louis-Marie’s visit will be funded by a CONACyT-British Council/Newton Fund Travel Grant to support Dr Yindom to work with collaborators in Mexico and explore the setting up of an HLA typing facility. During his one-month visit Dr Yindom wil visits Universidad Michoacana San Nicolás de Hidalgo and Laboratorio Estatal de Salud Pública in Michoacán; Centro de Investigaciones en Ciencias Microbiológicas, Benemérita Universidad Autónoma de Puebla; Centro de Detección Biomolecular and Instituto Tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey, ITESM Campus Cd de México. Louis-Marie will offer training, seminars and lectures that will contribute to the assessment of cellular responses against infectious diseases and in particular on Molecular approaches to HLA typing: past, present and future.
Louis-Marie will again go to Mexico to deliver a follow-up 2nd session during February-March 2016 to train personnel and students on data analysis and bioinformatics with relation to HLA sequence traces.
