These plans include the exploration of academic mobility between both institutions for different purposes such as training of PhD students; collaboration in different research projects focused in the immune response and generation of different vaccine approaches for Dengue, Chikungunya and Zika virus; to share biological materials of patients with flavivirus infection from endemic areas; amongst others.
Another important issue during Dr Vivanco's academic visit will be to define a potential agenda with Prof. Reyes-Sandoval group to apply for research grants in Mexico as well as in UK, and an initiative to support the creation of research infrastructure for the study of endemic infectious diseases in Veracruz, Mexico, through the support of NDM-Mexico.
NDM recently signed an MoU of research collaboration with UV with the aim of strenghening scientific reseach collaboration and infrastructure on both sides of the Atlantic, particularly in the field of immunity to infectious diseases.
CONACyT has recently awarded a "Fronteras de la Ciencia" award to Dr Vivanco, for a collaborative research project with Prof. Reyes-Sandoval on "Comparative study of diseases caused by endemic and emerging viral agents: Dengue, Chikungunya and Zika virus."
