The University of Oxford’s Nuffield Department of Medicine has recently signed an MoU with the Mexican Instituto Politécnico Nacional (National Polytechnic Institute), the most important public technological higher education centre in Mexico.

IPN logoWith over 800,000 graduates and 18 international awards in 2015, it is considered to be the engine of national progress. This new MoU will facilitate the exchange of scholars and students and will promote a closer collaboration between both universities, particularly in the fields of virology and vaccine development. NDM and IPN are currently collaborating in several research projects between Prof. Arturo Reyes-Sandoval’s group and Dr Ma. Isabel Salazar Sánchez, Research Professor at the National School of Biological Sciences, National Polytechnic Institute, on studies of dengue and zika virus infection. This MoU will pave the way to increase our academic exchanges and research collaborations with the IPN, as part of NDM’s broader strategy to facilitate the strengthening of research collaborations between Oxford and Mexico working on Neglected and Emerging Infectious Diseases.
