Gloria Alicia Figueroa Aguilar
Head of Public Health State Laboratory of Michoacan (Directora del Laboratorio Estatal de Salud Pública en Michoacán)
I studied a degree in Chemical Pharmacobiology in Michoacan at the University of “San Nicolas de Hidalgo” (1986-1991). I have a master´s degree in Public Health at the National Institute of Public Health (2005-2007).
From 1992 to 1996 I was trained as an analyst in the State Laboratory of Health Regulation of the Ministry of Health of Michoacan, occupying the leadership of the same from 1997 to 2007. In 2008, when construction of the State Public Health Laboratory was finished I took its appointment, a position that I hold to date. I am also a professor at the “Universidad Michoacana de San Nicolas de Hidalgo.”
Institutionally, I have participated in several research projects and also published papers in national and international magazines. I have attended to numerous meetings of the National Network of Public Health Laboratories, both of the National Epidemiological Surveillance System and the Federal Commission for Protection Against Health Risks. I have also been involved as a speaker and assistant at various conferences, seminars, symposia, courses and workshops.
I am a member of the College of Clinical Chemists of Michoacan and currently President of the Board of the Chemical Certification of Michoacan.
