Professor Anneke Lucassen

Oxford University are delighted to announce that Prof Anneke Lucassen is the new Academic Champion for Public and Community Engagement with Research.

Prof Lucassen is Director of the Centre for Personalised Medicine, and Professor of Genomic Medicine within the Medical Sciences Division. She leads research to ensure the benefits of genomic discovery have direct relevance to patients and society. Her expertise in integrating community engagement into multidisciplinary translational research and ethics makes her an excellent advocate for responsible engagement at the University.

Prof Lucassen said: ‘Public and community engagement is vital to the integrity and impact of research, and needs to involve researchers, communities and the public actively sharing ideas and co-creating knowledge. Through this interaction, we all gain a deeper understanding of the transformative potential of research, while the research itself becomes more transparent, inclusive, and responsive.’
