Professor Robin Cleveland

 

Robin Cleveland is a Professor of Engineering Science at the University of Oxford.   He has more than 15 years of experience in shock wave lithotripsy research, primarily in the United States with a NIH Programme Project Grant in lithotripsy, and is attached to the International Kidney Stone Institute.  His research has been directed at many aspects of lithotripsy including:  the propagation of shock waves through the body and into the kidney; the interaction of the shock waves with kidney stones.; cavitation, the growth and collapse of tiny bubbles due to the shock wave; the role of cavitation in stone fragmentation and tissue injury; and strategies that can be used to improve lithotripsy outcomes.   He is a Fellow of the Acoustical Society of America and an Associate Editor of Journal of the Acoustical Society of America.
