Mr Ben Turney

Ben Turney trained in Cambridge and Oxford and undertook research for both an MSc and DPhil (= PhD) in Oxford. He also obtained a diploma in university teaching in 2006 from the University of Oxford. Ben is the Bernard Senior Clinical Researcher in Urology & an Honorary Consultant Urological Surgeon employed by both the University of Oxford and the Oxford University Hospitals NHS Trust.
Clinical related work:
I have a clinical interest in endourology: particularly the treatment and prevention of kidney stones. I am clinical lead for Urology in Oxford. I am an elected member of the BAUS Section of Endourology Committee. I am managing partner of Oxford Urology Associates: a private practice group of 7 urology consultants.
I am a Senior Clinical Researcher at the University of Oxford UK. Since 2007, I have led the Oxford Stone Group which has examined many aspects of stone disease and its management. I have lead collaborations with multiple departments in Oxford University.
Current interests include:
- design of new endourological technology (collaboration between Mathematics and Engineering departments in Oxford and Boston Scientific as an industry partner)
- development of digital patient pathways (collaboration with Oneview and McLaren Applied technologies)
- 3D printing - development of a multidisciplinary hub in Oxford
- biometric data collection and analysis (collaboration with McLaren Applied Technologies)
I am a co-founder and a Director of UroScreen Ltd, which provides urologists and their patients with StoneScreen technology, and co-founder and a director of Oxbridge Courses Ltd, which provides training in management and leadership to senior trainees and junior consultants. Since 2001, I have been a co-director of Premed which provides educational courses to school leavers interested in a career in medicine. I have acted as a medical advisor to industry partners.
