
The Nuffield Department of Clinical Medicine is part of the Medical Sciences Division. It hosts one of the largest groupings of Biomedical Researchers in the University Sector, and is also responsible for a significant part of the teaching of clinical medical students with the Oxford Medical School.
A team from the Oxford Centre for Diabetes, Endocrinology, and Metabolism (OCDEM) show that having a ‘pear shape’ is not just less bad for you than an ‘apple shape’, but actively protects against diabetes and heart disease.
Applications are invited for a 3-year research studentship awarded by Diabetes UK. The successful applicant will work with Prof Mark McCarthy and Dr Anna Gloyn at the Oxford Centre for Diabetes, Endocrinology and Metabolism and the Wellcome Trust Centre for Human Genetics.
