Christiane Hagel

DPhil Student of Clinical Medicine

Christiane is a Doctor of Philosophy (DPhil) Candidate in Clinical Medicine at the NDM Centre for Global Health Research since 2019, focussing on health systems and implementation research. Her DPhil project aims to look at how more rapidly available digital health data may enable the use of data-driven performance feedback at multiple levels of the health system and engage different actors in efforts to drive improvements in quality of neonatal care in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). Christiane also has been working with the Centre for Tropical Medicine and Global Health since 2018, supporting research on health information systems and digital adoptions in LMICs. Prior to joining the University of Oxford, she worked as a scientific consultant supporting medical informatics projects in Germany commissioned by the Federal Ministry of Health and the Federal Ministry of Education and Research. During her Master of Public Health (MPH) studies at the Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin, Christiane focussed on infectious disease epidemiology, health policy research and social network analysis, and subsequently received a stipend to work with the Pandemic and Epidemic Disease Management team of the World Health Organization (WHO) in 2016.
