Sarah Batawi
DPhil Student
I am a DPhil student supervised by Prof Dame Sarah Gilbert and Prof Teresa Lambe in the Pandemic Science Institute. My research focuses on investigating the humoral immune response in humans after vaccination with the chimpanzee adenovirus platform against the Middle East Respiratory Coronavirus (MERS-COV) in clinical trials. This works aims to develop and progress novel vaccines against MERS and involves exploring new assays to assess humoral immunity and vaccine efficacy.
I completed my medical degree at King Abdul aziz University then worked as an internal Medicine Resident at King Fasial Specialist hospital in Jeddah-Saudi Arabia where major MERS outbreak has occurred.
Before my PhD, I completed my Master's degree in medical virology at the University of Manchester.
