The University's latest Recognition of Distinction Exercise has awarded the Nuffield Department of Medicine three new Professors; Elisabeth Ashley - Professor of Tropical Medicine. Stuart Blacksell - Professor of Tropical Microbiology and John B Davis - Professor of Pharmaceutical Discovery.

Elizabeth Ashley, Director of the Lao-Oxford-Mahosot Hospital-Wellcome Trust Research Unit (LOMWRU) in Lao PDR since 2019, is a UK-trained physician who specialises in Infectious Diseases and Medical Microbiology & Virology. The title Professor of Tropical Medicine is conferred.
Stuart Blacksell, Senior Research Scientist at the University of Oxford based at the Mahidol-Oxford Tropical Medicine Research Unit (MORU) in Thailand.  The title of Professor of Tropical Microbiology is conferred.
John B Davis, PI and Group Head, The Alzheimer’s Research UK Oxford Drug Discovery Institute (ODDI).  The title Professor of Pharmaceutical Discovery is conferred.
