Louise Nicholson, the University’s first Information Governance apprentice, won the prestigious Rising Star Award in recognition of her dedication, professionalism and contribution to the Department during her apprenticeship.

Alongside Louise’s success, Becson Ody, Apprentice Receptionist and Administrative Assistant in the Medical Sciences Division, was also celebrated after being named a finalist in the Advanced Apprentice of the Year category.

Reflecting on her award win, Louise said: “I’m honoured to have won Enterprise Oxfordshire’s Rising Star Award, and I’m incredibly grateful to my team at the Nuffield Department of Medicine for supporting me throughout my apprenticeship. My line manager Erica Ballabio and my apprenticeship coach Louise Morley have given me encouragement and motivation in my role, and I look forward to continuing my journey in the Department.”

Erica Ballabio, Head of Contracts and Information Governance at the Nuffield Department of Medicine, praised Louise’s achievement: “We are incredibly proud of Louise on receiving this well deserved Rising Star Award. Her dedication, professionalism and positive impact across the team have truly stood out, and we are so grateful for all her hard work and commitment. It’s fantastic to see her recognised in this way!”

The recognition of both Louise and Becson reflects the important contribution apprentices make across the University and demonstrates the value of investing in professional development opportunities.
